Making a Will Making a will is an easy and safe way of making sure that your wishes are caried after you die. Everyone should have one and your family and executor(s) should know where you keep your will. Many people do not like to think about death, let alone talk about it. We plan for many things when we are living. Why not then plan for that time after we have passed away?
A will clears away any uncertainty and leaves instructions for your executors on how to deal with your affairs. It should be carefully made out and your intentions must be clearly stated. Most wills do not cost a lot to make and you would be advised to consult your solicitor.
Contents of your will These will usually include: a declaration that this is your last will and testament a declaration that you are of sound mind and body at the time you make your will the name or names of your executor(s) any special instructions you may wish to leave for the conduct of your funeral or the disposal of your remains The names of any persons or organisations to whom you wish to leave a gift in your will the names of any persons or organisation to whom the body of your estate should be left, taking care to provide for family any other special instructions a declaration that you have signed the will in the presences of witnesses your signature and the date the will was signed the names and addres of your witnesses |
