HIV/Aids is widespread in Africa where three quarters of the HIV/Aids sufferes in the world exist.
The world Health organisation estimates that there are 33 million sufferers.
A whole generation of children will be orphans in the next ten years as their parents die from Aids.
One in three babies born to HIV/Aids infected mothers have the disease.
5000 children a day are dying from the disease.
CAMEO-Aid is working with it local partners to bring about a change in attitude.
It is helping to increase awareness and prevention, in three ways.
- CAMEO-Aid is supplying awareness and prevention teaching aids and materials to teachers.
- it is funding the development of a young people's theatre group program, where group members will perform short interactive plays in schools and encourage the participation of the Students
- Cameo- Aid is supporting the training of Student Representatives in each class in a school through which to funnel information and support.
This is a health crisis the world cannot afford to ignore.
